Prep roundup: Atwater boys soccer falls to Jesuit

SACRAMENTO -- The Atwater boys soccer team played the defending Sac-Joaquin Section champions Jesuit tough for a half.

Then the heat got to them.

Jesuit scored three goals in the second half to defeat Atwater 4-1 on Tuesday.

"We don't go as deep as they do," Atwater coach Jimmy Brewer said. "When we had to sub some guys in they scored three goals in 11 minutes."

Julian Horta scored Atwater's lone goal on as assist from Jose Rodriguez.

Atwater is now 3-1-1 this season.

ATWATER -- Sergio Hinojosa scored two goals to lead Patterson to a win over Buhach Colony.

It was Buhach's first loss this season as it dropped to 5-1-1.

Keri Court paced Buhach with a round of 59.

ATWATER -- Emily Szabo posted a 43 and Spencer Heller fired a 46 to lead Turlock past Atwater. Jackie Zdanowski finished with a 46 for Atwater.

RIVER OAKS -- Erica Ballard shot a 3-over 30 as the Huskies opened Valley Foothill League play by beating Gustine.

LIVINGSTON -- Daisy Salgado's six assists and eight aces helped Livingston battle back from two games down, but wasn't enough to push it past Denair in a 25-11, 25-12, 18-25, 22-25, 15-9 loss.

HILMAR -- Caitlin Benning led Hilmar (6-0) with 10 kills and six blocks.

Kelsie Hansen had 14 kills for Merced (0-1).
