FIT 4 TEENS — Fitness class at Brenda Athletic Club. Ages 12-17. Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00pm-5:00pm. New class begins in June. Teens learn the fundamentals of good nutrition with the five food groups and the food pyramid. Children learn to do the proper stretching and cardio conditioning. RIVER OAKS — Junior program has two four-week sessions, June 8-30 from 9-10 a.m. or July 13-Aug. 4 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Two days a week, limited to first 12 entrants. Beginners' class is $30, intermediate $50 and advanced is $75 with access to course on weekdays after 10 a.m. Call the golf shop at 537-4653 to sign up.

HUNTING & FISHING

CATFISH DERBY — San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation and the Delta Fly Fishers will launch this year's Catfish Derby on June 5 at Oak Grove Regional Park. Open to adults for the first time in the event's 26-year history. Approximately 1,500 lbs. of catfish will be planted prior to the derby, with additional poundage supplied by the California Dept. of Fish and Game. As always, kids age 15 years and younger fish for catfish free at Oak Grove's 10-acre lake during the event, which begins at 6:15 a.m. There is no registration fee for the event, however, a $3 fishing permit fee and valid CA. fishing license are required for those sixteen (16) years of age or over. A $5 vehicle-parking fee will also apply. All State Fish and Game laws apply. Participants must supply their own fishing equipment. Oak Grove Regional Park is located on Eight Mile Road and Interstate 5 in Stockton. Park gates will be open at 6:15 a.m., derby registration closes at 10 a.m. and the last weigh-in is at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded shortly thereafter. OUTDOORS

KITE DAY — June 19 at Pacheco Pass from noon to 4 p.m. Everyone who flies a kite will receive a souvenir Kite Day button. There will be other fun activities including a 'Make Your Own Kite Free' table and free face painting, as well as Pie Eating Contests and Bubble Gum Blowing Contests. Plus, there will be interesting tables to check out, including nature tables and a 'sun and wind' table, as well as crafts for the kids. Families are encouraged to bring a kite, hats and/or sunscreen, drinking water, lawn chairs, and a picnic lunch. (There is no drinking water at Pacheco State Park.) A vendor will have hot dogs and beverages available. Drop by anytime and join the fun. The only cost is the $5 state park Day Use Fee per Car. FISHING & FUN DAY — Saturday at San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area. The 21st Annual Kids' Fishing and Fun Day, hosted by California's Department of Water Resources and State Parks and volunteers (including Los Banos Girl Scouts). At San Luis Creek on the O'Neill Forebay. Children ages 3 to 15 may sign in from 8 a.m. on. Free bait is provided. Also, each participant will receive a free lunch and other goodies. There will be free pontoon boat rides (weather permitting). The only cost is the $10 state park Day Use Fee per car. Besides your fishing poles, you may also want to bring sunscreen, folding chairs, and a camera. LIVINGSTON WAVES — "Catch the Wave" will be the hope of every new swimmer on the Livingston Recreation's newest swim program. Enrollment for the Livingston Waves Swim Team is open to participants ages 5-19. The program runs through the end of July. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool on their stomach and back without assistance.
