Free errands Tuesday for seniors

The Foundation for Wellness Professionals, a nonprofit group of volunteers, is offering to run errands in the Merced/Atwater area at no cost for senior citizens and/or others who are unable to leave their homes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays until the end of the year. United Way coat drive

United Way is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit those in need in the community. Please donate new or gently used coats to United Way of Merced County at 658 W. Main St., Merced. They can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan. 30.

Storytime at Barnes & Noble Merced

Barnes & Noble will host a Storytime for Kids event at 11 a.m. Saturday at its Merced location, 1720 W. Olive Ave. Children will hear “The Little Kids’ Table.” The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 209-386-0571.

Merced Golden Lions bingo

The Merced Golden Lions present bingo at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club, 615 W 15th St., Merced. $20 for 20 games. Food available.

Gift shop grand opening

Mildren’s Baskets and Gifts, an all-occasion gift shop, will open Saturday in Atwater. The shop will have a variety of items to choose from, including holiday sweaters, stocking stuffers and other unique gifts. The store is at 1218 3rd St. in Atwater.

Wrestling with Hunger event

Lucha Xtreme will host the “Wrestling with Hunger” event in Merced on Saturday along with a canned food drive for families in need. The event, held at American Legion Post 83 on Main Street, will feature wrestlers such as Al Azar, El Guerrero de la Muerte, Jesse “The Snake” Poole, Mortal, Manny “Raging Bull” Fernandez and the Texas Hitmen. The event is free, and seats are first-come, first-served. Those who attend are encouraged to make a canned food donation. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and bell time is 5. Poinsettia deliveries in Livingston

Order your poinsettias from Livingston Lions Club for $10 each. The last day to place an order is Dec. 4. Deliveries will be made Dec. 11. For more information or to place an order, call 209-489-7533.

Holiday Artisan Fair

More than 40 local artists will be displaying their work at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St., on Dec. 4-5 at the fourth annual Holiday Artisan Fair and Arbor Gallery Open House. Handmade jewelry, ceramics, fruit and nuts, paintings, wooden bowls, and other items will be available to buy. All items are made by Merced-area artists.

AARP Merced Bus Trip

AARP Merced Chapter 282 is planning a bus day trip to Columbia on Dec. 6. Lunch will be served at City Hotel and What Cheer Saloon, followed by a visit to the Fallon House Theater to watch a live performance of “A Columbia Christmas Carol.” The cost of the trip is $75 and is open to the public. The bus will be wheelchair-accessible. Seating is limited and the deadline for reservations is Nov. 30. Burger benefit for Salvation Army

The Native Daughters of the Golden West is teaming with Carl’s Jr. to help out the Salvation Army. On Dec. 9 and 10, Carl’s Jr. will give 25 percent of all sales generated to the Native Daughters, which will then be passed on to the Salvation Army.

Santa’s pancake breakfast

The Gauchos Diamond Club Boosters will host a pancake breakfast with Santa to help raise money for El Capitan High School baseball. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee, orange juice and pictures with Santa. Cost is $5 per plate.
