Free errand Tuesday for seniors
The Foundation for Wellness Professionals, a nonprofit group of volunteers, is offering to run errands in the Merced-Atwater area at no cost for senior citizens and others unable to leave their homes between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday until the end of the year. Holiday craft fair in Atwater
A holiday craft and vendor fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Atwater VFW Hall opens its doors at Fifth and Broadway Avenue in Atwater for the fair. Lots of parking will be available. The event will feature Christmas crafts, bottle caps and wooden items, plus vendors from nail art, charms, oils and nutrition. A lunch salad bar will be available from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. for $7. Disabled parking spots and a ramp are at the rear of the building.
Merced Women’s Club Christmas Social
The Merced Women’s Club is holding its annual Christmas Social at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at 707 W. 22nd St. There will be activities including bridge, cards, bingo and board games, along with desserts, beverages and raffle prizes. Hunting and fishing collectibles show in Los Banos
A hunting and fishing collectibles show will be held Dec. 4-5 in Los Banos. The show is for wildlife and sporting art, antique duck decoys, rods, reels, tackle, lures, and vintage hunting and fishing gear. Free appraisals will be given on old decoys and vintage items. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at The Sportsmen’s Clun, 13989 Mercey Springs Road. For more information, call 559-259-5755.
Atwater Christmas Parade entries
Christmas Past, Present and Future is the theme for Atwater’s annual Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. Dec. 4. Hosted by the Atwater Chamber of Commerce, the event begins in downtown Atwater and concludes with a visit from Santa on the grounds of the historic Bloss Home, Broadway and First Street. Fourth annual artisan fair
More than 40 local artists will be displaying their work at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St., Dec. 4-5 at the fourth annual Holiday Artisan Fair and Arbor Gallery Open House. Handmade jewelry, ceramics, fruit and nuts, paintings, wooden bowls and other items will be available.
85th annual Christmas Bazaar
The Merced United Methodist Women will be holding its 85th annual Christmas Bazaar on Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 899 Yosemite Parkway. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $10. Featured at the bazaar will be unique decorations and gifts, including the candy room, bake shop, boutique room, arts and attic treasures, Margaret Freed jam and jelly room, Christmas room, silent auction, Mattie’s tea room, cheeseballs, and Hmong crafts and egg rolls.
13th annual Craft Fair
The Central Presbyterian Church will host its 13th annual Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Hoffmeister Center, 1920 Canal St. More than 40 vendors will be on hand offering a variety of Christmas gifts. A hot luncheon will be available. There also will be a raffle and free hot cider.
Christmas Open House at the Courthouse Museum
On Dec. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m., the public is invited to experience a Community Christmas at the Courthouse Museum. The historic building’s halls have been decked and rooms have been filled with more than 70 Christmas trees. Treats and traditional courthouse eggnog will be served. Live entertainment will be performed by several groups starting at 1 p.m. For more information, call the museum office at 209-723-2401. Don’t forget to visit the current exhibit, “UC Merced at 10: A Decade of Building, Developing and Contributing to the Community.”
Burger benefit for Salvation Army
The Native Daughters of the Golden West is teaming up with Carl’s Jr. to help out the Salvation Army. On Dec. 9-10, Carl’s Jr. will give 25 percent of all sales generated to the Native Daughters, which will then be passed on to the Salvation Army.
