Flu clinics scheduled throughout Merced County
A dozen flu clinics are planned throughout Merced County in the next month as part of Binational Health Week.
Binational Health Week is an initiative, usually observed in October, that aims to improve the health and well-being of underserved communities in the U.S. and Canada. This year, Binational Health Week will extend from Oct. 3 to 18.
In Merced, local organizations and clinics are promoting a series of health education activities, as well as free vaccinations and medical screenings all month long. During last year’s efforts, organizers tallied 856 flu shots, 480 blood pressure tests, 441 glucose screenings and 126 dental exams.
This year, community flu clinics will be available as follows:
▪ Oct. 8 – From 2 to 3 p.m. at the Le Grand Library, 12949 Le Grand Road
▪ Oct. 8 – From 4 to 7 p.m. at the Planada Health Fair at San Joaquin Drug, 9215 Highway 140. This event will also include glucose, vision, dental, hearing and blood pressure screenings.
▪ Oct. 9 – From 4 to 8 p.m. at the Los Banos Flea Market, 403 F St.
▪ Oct. 13 – From 11 a.m to noon at Winton Living Well Cafe, 7091 W. Walnut Ave.
▪ Oct. 15 – From 2 to 4 p.m. at Delhi Library, 16881 Schendel Ave.
▪ Oct. 15 – From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Livingston City Hall, 1416 C St.
▪ Oct. 18 – From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Merced County Office of Education Office, 632 W. 13th St.
▪ Oct. 20 – From 10 to 11 a.m. at the Area Agency on Aging Office, 851 W. 23rd St.
▪ Oct. 22 – From 1 to 3 p.m. at Romero Elementary School, 13500 W. Luis Road, Santa Nella
▪ Oct. 22 – From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m at Gustine Library, 205 Sixth St.
▪ Oct. 26 – Every Monday while supplies last at the Public Health Department offices in Merced and Los Banos
▪ Oct. 29 – From 8 to 11 a.m. at the Atwater Flea Market, 2877 Atwater Blvd.
