Atwater-based Teasdale Foods buys Mexican food business
Atwater-based Teasdale Foods announced Wednesday that it recently acquired the Mexican foods business Bruce Foods Corp.
The move includes the acquisition of the brands Casa Fiesta, Viva Mexico and Mexene. According to a press release, the Casa Fiesta brand is recognized as a provider of authentic Mexican foods in categories such as beans, peppers, sauces, corn products and seasonings.
Bruce Foods will provide transition services to Teasdale, with the intention of fully integrating the business into Teasdale this year, the news release said.
According to The Associated Press, the sale is Bruce Foods’ third major asset sale since 2013. Bruce Foods will focus on its sales of marinades, outdoor cooking appliances, seasonings, sauce mixes and other items. Bruce Foods said it will retain all personnel in New Iberia, La., and El Paso, Texas.
It was not clear Friday whether the acquisition could result in new jobs at the Atwater plant. Company officials did not respond to requests for comment.
