Homicide reported in Merced
A 21-year-old Merced man was shot and killed late Wednesday, the Police Department reported.
Capt. Bimley West said the man was shot just before 9 a.m. near an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Meadows Avenue.
The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
No arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions were released.
Police said the victim was shot multiple times in the torso and lower body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Officers said it was too early to comment on any possible motive for the incident.
It was the ninth homicide of the year in the city of Merced. The death brings the total number of reported homicides in 2015 in Merced County to 25.
