ARTS WRAP for June 12, 2015

‘Greater Tuna’ plus

Two Playhouse Merced actors will attempt to portray more than 30 characters as they put on “The Greater Tuna Quadrilogy: Greater Tuna; Tuna Christmas; Red, White and Tuna; and Tuna Does Vegas,” all written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard. The show continues through June 14. Tickets are on sale for the Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. People may purchase tickets by going online to www.facebook.com/PlayhouseMerced, calling (209) 725-8587 or visiting the box office at 452 W. Main St., Merced. The box office is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

AARP Merced bus trip for play

AARP of Merced is organizing a bus trip to Fresno to see a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel “Oliver Twist.” The trip to Fresno is set for June 28, but the deadline to make a reservation is June 12. . The cost is $90 and includes a buffet lunch. Summer arts

The Los Banos Unified School District, in partnership with the Merced County Office of Education and the Merced County Education Foundation, is hosting the Summer Performing Arts Program on the West Side that will culminate in several performances of the musical “Once on This Island!” The summer program will be held at Pacheco High School in Los Banos; registration is open to all Merced County students entering fourth through eighth grades and is first come, first served. South Pacific dance lessons

The South Pacific Dance Company is teaching traditional dance and music from the cultures of Hawaii and Tahiti. The school enrolls ages 4 and older, beginners to advanced.
