Future Farmers of America and 4-H Club members from schools throughout the county spend hours preparing to show their project animals at the Merced County Fair in Merced. The animals are judged on several physical characteristics. Many of their handlers also compete in showmanship classes. The fair’s five-day run ends Sunday.
