The RBD mania showed up for the much-anticipated ‘Soy Rebelde Tour 2023’ in Fresno
Miniskirts or blue jeans. Black knee-high boots. Pink cowgirl hats. Blazers and the iconic red ties with a white shirt.
Those were of RBD mania at the Save Mart Center Sunday night.
To be exact, 12,000 of them. Dancing, singing, screaming or chanting “RBD!” “RBD!” “RBD!”
Valley fans were ready for the much-anticipated ‘Soy Rebelde Tour 2023.’ Their wait was finally over.
Fifteen years after RBD redefined Latin pop culture by riding the popularity of their television series and filling stadiums in the 2000s, the band was back together. The Fresno stop was part of its celebration of a 20-year legacy.
Anahi, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Christopher von Uckermann and Christian Chávez made a big entrance as they came down on a platform from the Save Mart Center’s ceiling onto the stage around 8:30 p.m. singing their hits – including ‘Salvame y, Solo Quedate en Silencio’ among many others.
RBD’s members frequently changed their outfits throughout the concert that ended around 10: 40 p.m. They donned their iconic Rebelde uniform and sang – along with the audience – the pop group anthem ‘Rebelde.’
The original Rebelde generation was joined by a new generation of Rebeldes. Many of them came to see the paradigm-breaking, multigenerational phenomenon perform live for the first time.
Madera resident 32-year-old Nallely González came to see the Mexican pop group with her 26-year-old sister Liz and 10-year-old sister Kayla.
Their mother surprised the three sisters with tickets to the Fresno concert.
Nallely González said she and her sister Liz saw RBD perform in 2006 about 17 years ago. Nallely was about 15-year-old, while Liz was about 9 or 10 years old. Their younger sister Kayla had not been born.
Leyda Sánchez, 30, and her husband Dany, 31, came from Stockton after they failed to buy tickets for RBD’s concert in Sacramento when the tickets went on sale in January.
RBD performed in Sacramento at the Golden 1 Center earlier this month as well as in San José, San Francisco and San Diego. RBD will perform in Los Ángeles at the BMO Stadium Oct. 18-20 and Oct. 22.
Leyda Sánchez said they didn’t mind spending about $800 for the pair of tickets to the concert in Fresno.
Since they were not able to find tickets for the Sacramento concert, Leyda said they were not going to miss the opportunity to see RBD, even if that meant driving about two hours to the show.
Leyda watched the telenovela ‘Rebelde’ when younger, adding that she and her friends pretended to be each of the Rebelde characters.
She grew up with the pop group and like many of the RBD band members, she is also now a parent.
Anywhere you looked there was a Rebelde at heart – queer, straight, young, old, age didn’t really matter – all pouring their hearts out to their beloved band.
