Atwater museum launching free outdoor movie series this weekend
Castle Air Museum is beginning its monthly free movie in series on Saturday.
You can watch movies under the stars at the museum, located at 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater. All the free movies have an airplane theme.
The first movie being shown is 2014’s “Planes: Fire & Rescue” — an animated comedy-adventure film from Disney that’s rated PG. Gates open at 7 p.m.
The museum’s education committee will provide popcorn and bottles of water, according to a museum Facebook post. There will also be a paper airplane contest for kids and airplane trivia about the aircraft seen in the movie.
Admission and parking are free. Canned food donations will be accepted for local veteran charities. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets, the post said.
Here’s a list of the other movies in the series. They are all either rated PG or PG-13.
- May 17: “Amelia”
- June 20: “Flyboys”
- July 18: “Redtails”
- Sept. 19: “Dr. Strangelove”
- Oct. 17: “Flight of the Intruder”
