Merced’s Hmong American Day celebration is Saturday. What to know
Hmong American Day is officially observed annually on May 14, but the public celebration of the day will be happening Saturday night in Merced.
The event, celebrating Hmong American heritage, culture and contributions to the Central Valley, will be held in Bob Hart Square, 514 W. Main St., from 4 to 8 p.m.
It will include cultural performances, local artists, historical exhibits, family activities and food vendors.
According to The Fresno Center, May 14, 1975, marked the last airlift evacuation of Hmong soldiers and families from Laos to refugee camps in Thailand.
