Watch: 'Hadestown' trailer brings Broadway musical to theaters

June 9 (UPI) -- Bleecker Street is gearing up for the release of Hadestown in theaters.

The studio shared a trailer Tuesday for the live stage version of the musical that will play in U.S. theaters July 23 to 27.

Featuring the original Broadway cast of Reeve Carney, André De Shields, Amber Gray, Eva Noblezada and Patrick Page, the production was filmed at the Lyric Theatre in London's West End in early 2025.

Hadestown features music, lyrics and a book by Anaïs Mitchell, and is inspired by the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone.

"Following two intertwining love stories -- that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone -- Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back," an official description reads.

Hadestown premiered on Broadway in 2019 and on the West End in 2024. The Broadway production won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.
