The Courthouse Museum is scheduled to kick off the holiday season in colorful fashion Dec. 7 by holding its Christmas Open House.

The event is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. at the museum, at 21st and N streets in Merced. The public is invited, and admission is free, according to a museum press release.

The museum’s staff has “decked the halls” and filled the rooms of the historic building with nearly 70 Christmas trees. Treats will be served along with traditional eggnog.

Live entertainment will be performed by the following groups starting at 1 p.m. Caitlin’s Suzuki Violin Studio, Storytime with Miss Danaelle, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School Christmas Choir, Harmony Valley Chorus, Merced High School Chorus, and Golden Valley High School Jazz Ensemble.

The current exhibit is "Our Stories: Mexican American Experience in Merced County."

Teachers are reminded that the museum will be open Monday through Friday mornings throughout December for walk-through tours – a wonderful way to introduce a class to the museum, according to the staff.

Call the museum office at (209) 723-2401 for more information. And support the museum by shopping at the museum store for holiday gifts.
