Merced Arts Wrap for Dec. 26, 2014

Exhibits at the Arts Center

The Merced Multicultural Arts Center is hosting a group of exhibits by Martin Castro, Elaine Sachs and Edwin Macaraeg, along with “The Really Big Show” in the Arbor Gallery. The center is at 645 W. Main St. in downtown Merced. Entrance is free. The exhibit runs through Jan. 9; hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Jack Hanna

Animal exhibiter Jack Hanna and his “Into the Wild Live” tour is coming to the Merced Theatre at 7 p.m. on Jan. 16. During the show, Hanna will introduce the audience to some of the world’s animals, and share stories and exclusive footage from his worldwide adventures.

Tickets range from $20 to $35. The Merced Theatre is at 301 W. Main St.

Events at Kewl Cats

Kewl Cats, 1111 Motel Drive, has karaoke from 9:30 p.m. until closing, Monday through Thursday, and DJ/dancing from 8 p.m. to closing every Friday, no cover, ages 21 and up only. Doors open at 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Winter dance social

A dance social is planned from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. A variety of swing, fox trot, Latin and polka tunes will be played by Gloria Coronas and George Rego. Cost is $8 per person, doors open at 1:30 and refreshments are available.

Geronimo Getty

Los Angeles county/folk act Geronimo Getty is scheduled to perform at 9 p.m. on Jan. 3 at The Partisan, 432 W. Main St. Also scheduled to perform is The Do Its from Los Angeles. Admission is $5; ages 21 and up only.

Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit

The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit is scheduled to perform at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 at The Partisan, 432 W. Main St. Also scheduled to perform is the Jabronskis. Admission is $10; ages 21 and up only.

The Harmed Brothers

Portland indie-grass folk rock group the Harmed Brothers is scheduled to perform at 9 p.m. on Jan. 10 at The Partisan, 432 W. Main St. Also scheduled to perform is Tom Vandenavond. Tickets are $5 at the door. Must be age 21 or up to attend.

New Year’s Eve: The Partisan

The Partisan will hold a News Year’s Eve party beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday. A live performance is scheduled by Merced’s Apt. 21, along with music by DJ Teca. The Partisan is at 432 W. Main St. in downtown Merced.

New Year’s Eve: Star Club

The Star Club will have a New Year’s Eve celebration featuring Flashback from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance. There will be a champagne toast at midnight.

New Year’s Eve: Club Mercedes

Club Mercedes is scheduled to present a New Year’s Eve party featuring Donnie and the Wayrads. Tickets are $15 per person and you must be 21 or older to attend. The club is at 569 West Ninth St. in Merced. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the music starts at 9 p.m. and ends at 1 a.m. A full beverage bar is available at extra cost. There will be finger foods at 10 p.m. and a champagne toast at midnight.
