Merced felon arrested -- again -- with an illegal gun, police say
A felon who was released a week ago after illegally possessing a gun was arrested again Monday with a firearm he's not supposed to have, according to Merced police.
A Merced officer in the area of Black Rascal Creek and Highway 59 investigated a "suspicious vehicle" around 7:15 a.m. Monday, police said.
The officer recognized Alan Febbie, 58, of Merced and knew he was on active probation, police said. Because he's on probation, the officer searched the man and found a 9 mm bullet in Febbie's pocket, and arrested him on suspicion of possessing ammunition, a violation of his probation.
Upon searching his truck, police found two 9 mm handguns under the hood, another violation of his probation, police said. He was ultimately arrested for the alleged possession of the guns.
Febbie was arrested on Oct. 15 for illegally possessing a gun and was released from Merced County Jail a week ago, according to jail records. He was arrested at least one other time in Merced County, accused of the same crime, records show.
He also has several drug-related arrests on his jail sheet.
