Scotch Doubles Tournament on tap for Sunday at Bellevue Bowl

The Merced/Atwater Women's 500 Club will be at Bellevue Bowl this Sunday hosting their Annual Scotch Doubles tournament starting at 1:30 p.m.
The tourney is open to all USBC men & women members and the team can consist of a man and woman, mixed. You will be using your highest 2017-2018 composite average as found on Bowl.com. I think you know that routine, where the two bowlers play alternate shots throughout the game.
The only time one of the pair ever completes a frame on his/her own is when scoring a strike. Example, the first bowler rolled the first ball and leaves two pins; the second bowler tries to complete the spare. If the first bowlers rolls s strike, positions switch. Your will be rolling four games of regular bowling on one pair of lanes.
Entry fee is $25 per bowler and they well have a 50/50 and mulligan's during the afternoon. Entry forms are now available at Bellevue. Closing date for entries is Friday, July 6. It sounds like a lot of fun, get a partner and come out on Sunday.

USBC TIMELINE FOR BOWLING BALL.
I received information from USBC (bowl.com) for the dates for new bowling ball specifications. Starting Aug. 2, 2018, bowling balls weighing more than 10 pounds will be allowed to have up to three ounces of static side, thumb or finger weight specification of one once for finger, thumb or side weight, and three ounces for top or bottom weight.
If you're interested in this article, check withbowl.com for all of the new rulings. Bowlers who do not use their thumb for delivery and decide to use higher static weight specification cannot have a thumb hole. It would be classified as a balance hole, and immediately will be required to follow the specification requiring them to mark their intended center of the palm. Bowlers now have a two-year window to work with their pro shops to ensure their equipment will meet specification onAug. 1, 2020.
