Second convicted child molester dies after cane attack in California prison, cops say
A second convicted sex offender has died from an attack at California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran, state officials say.
Graham De Luis-Conti, 62, died on Jan. 19 at a local hospital, according to a press release by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Officers said that on Jan. 16, Jonathan Watson, 41, attacked two other inmates and beat them, giving them head injuries.
David Bobb, 48, died on the way to the hospital, officials said. Both De Luis-Conti and Bobb were convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age and were serving life terms in prison, according to the release.
The weapon that Watson allegedly used was a walking cane, the Associated Press reported.
Watson was sentenced to life in prison on first-degree murder and gun charges, police said.
The prison’s investigative unit and the Kings County Coroner’s Office are investigating both the deaths as homicides, according to the release.
