Dashing through the shows: Neither wind nor rain nor writers' strike can stop this season's holiday TV

The number of new television shows being made is dwindling. But the current writers' strike won't have much effect on holiday programming. From now until the end of the year, the network and cable channels will be loaded with holiday shows. Some are new programs finished before the strike. But the majority of the shows are holiday favorites that have aired for years.

That's why you will see a lovable beagle sitting down to a Thanksgiving meal on "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving." The fate of the residents of some unhappy toys will once again be revealed on "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys." And viewers again will learn that one man can make a difference in life with the classic "It's a Wonderful Life."
