Senior meals
Merced Senior Social Club plans several social meals to be held from 9 a.m. to about 2:15 p.m. every Friday at Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. This Friday is nachos for $1. Sept. 16 is hot dogs or polish sausages and trimmings for $3. Sept. 23 is tostadas for $1. Sept. 30 is a sack lunch. The group socializes, plays card games and bingo about noon. Mature drivers
Merced College is offering a “Mature Driver Improvement” class from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Atwater Community Center, 760 Bellevue Road. There are no fees. For some drivers, the seven-hour course can be used for a 5 to 10 percent discount on auto insurance premiums. For more, call 209-381-6540.
Sunday dance
A dance open to adults is planned 2-5 p.m. Sept. 25 at Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. A tango lesson precedes the dance at 1:15 p.m. Cost is $8. Door prizes and refreshments offered. For more, call 209-723-0839 or 209-623-8734.
Golf tourney
Habitat for Humanity’s annual golf tournament will start at noon Sept. 30 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Club, 5250 Green Sands Ave., Atwater. Sign-ups begin at 10:30 a.m. It offers a raffle, putting contest, long-drive contest and hole-in-one contest. Sliders will be served prior to the start of play, with other light snacks offered. Hunting/fishing show
A hunting and fishing collectibles show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Sportsmen’s Club, 13989 Mercey Springs Road, Los Banos. Antique duck decoys, rod, reels, tackle, lures, vintage hunting and fishing, wildlife and sporting art, and other related items are planned. Indian tacos
Atwater’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 9946 plans to serve Indian tacos from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Veterans Hall, 1390 Broadway Ave., Atwater. The handmade fry bread topped with beef, beans, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and sour cream is $8. Takeout available. Tickets available at the Veterans Hall or by calling 209-658-6436. Proceeds fund the auxiliary and veterans programs.
