Human trafficking
Church Women United plans a Human Rights Celebration 3-5 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2916 N. McKee Road, Merced. The theme is “Experiencing Blessings at the Table” and the Merced Police Department will be sharing its efforts to identify human trafficking in the community. Light refreshments will be served. CASA volunteers
The Court Appointed Special Advocates program is looking for volunteers for children in foster care. Children removed from their parents’ home and placed in the home of a stranger are confused, frightened and uncertain as to what the future holds. CASA provides the child with a sense of security, as well as serving in the critical role for the court system. The next orientation meeting is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the CASA office, 2824 Park Ave., Suite A. Call the office at 209-722-2272 to reserve a seat.
Day with Wildlife
The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center celebrates its anniversary every fall with its Day with Wildlife. The 32nd anniversary event is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Wildlife Center inside Fox Grove Fishing Access, 1220 Geer Road, Hughson. Planned up-close visits with animals, games, tri-tip sandwiches, slushies, sundaes and more. There is no charge to enter. Potluck social
Veritas Parlor No. 75 of Merced’s Native Daughters of the Golden West plans a potluck social at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at the home of a member. Members can bring guests and their favorite hot dish, salad or dessert to share. For ideas on a dish or for directions, call 209-357-2021.
Town hall
The Winton Municipal Advisory Council and the Winton Chamber of Commerce plans their first Winton Town Hall meeting 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Winton Community Hall, 7091 Walnut Ave. The day’s agenda includes time with Sheriff Vern Warnke; Dana Hertfelder, commissioner of Merced County Public Works; and supervisor candidates for District 4, Loyd Pareira and Rich Ford.
Job fair
The Veterans Job and Information Fair is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at the American Legion Hall, 939 W. Main St., Merced.
