Cotton Festival

The 47th annual Dos Palos Cotton Festival continues through Sunday at O’Banion Park, 931 Center Ave., Dos Palos. The festival will include carnival rides and games, live music, a softball tournament, and rib dinners among dozens of other food options. A pageant and parade are also planned. Sober Fest

In honor of National Recovery Month, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, Merced County Probation Department and GEO Re-entry Services are hosting Sober Fest 2016, a family event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Merced County Courthouse Park, 21st and N streets. MS group

A multiple sclerosis self-help group will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Ave. The meeting marks the group’s 20th anniversary. For more information, call Susan at 209-631-7279.

5K run

The UC Merced Journey 5K Fund Run to support student scholarships is at 9 a.m. Saturday near the Lantern Cafe at UC Merced, 5200 N. Lake Road. Bible study

Yosemite Church is kicking off new women’s Bible studies for the fall with morning and evening options. “The Armor of God” by Priscilla Shirer will be featured from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church, 2230 E. La Grange breakfast

The Odd Fellows of LaFayette Historical Lodge No. 65 serves its monthly breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at IOOF Hall, on the main street of La Grange, Highway 132, just east of Highway 59. They’ll be serving biscuits and gravy, ham and cheese omelets, sausage and French toast. Cost is $6; children 7 to 12 are $3 each, 6 and younger eat free. Merced SPCA

The monthly meeting of the Merced Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be at 6 p.m. Monday, at First Baptist Church, Buena Vista Drive and M Street.
