Courthouse dedication
State and local officials will dedicate the new Robert M. Falasco Justice Center at 1159 G St. in Los Banos on Friday.
The ceremony for the new courthouse will start at 11 a.m. and last about an hour. California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye will be the guest speaker with Merced Superior Court Judge Brian L. McCabe presiding alongside Los Banos Mayor Mike Villalta and Merced County District 5 Supervisor Jerry O’Banion.
Limited tours of the new courthouse will be given following the dedication.
Day with Wildlife
The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center celebrates its anniversary every fall with Day with Wildlife. The 32nd anniversary event is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wildlife Center inside Fox Grove Fishing Access, 1220 Geer Road, Hughson. Planned up-close visits with animals, games, tri-tip sandwiches, slushies, sundaes and more. There is no charge to attend. Republican Women
Merced County Republican Women Federated will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St. Ric Kirby, the owner of Kirby Manufacturing Inc., will be the speaker. He is expected to talk about his company, the dairy industry and the state’s drought. Bunco is planned after the luncheon and is a fundraiser. Potluck social
Veritas Parlor No. 75 of Merced’s Native Daughters of the Golden West plan a potluck social at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the home of a member. Members can bring guests and their favorite hot dish, salad or dessert to share. For ideas on a dish or for directions, call 209-357-2021.
Town hall
The Winton Municipal Advisory Council and the Winton Chamber of Commerce plan their first town-hall meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Winton Community Hall, 7091 Walnut Ave. The meeting’s agenda includes time with Sheriff Vern Warnke; Dana Hertfelder, commissioner of Merced County Public Works; and supervisor candidates for District 4, Loyd Pareira and Rich Ford.
Breakfast buffet
The Atwater Winton Lions Club will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast Buffet from 7 a.m. to noon Sept. 24 at the Atwater Women’s Club House on Grove and Third streets. It’s in conjunction with the Atwater Fall Festival. The cost per person is $8 for the buffet. Proceeds are used for local Lions projects as well as the California Lions Camp Pacifica. Rigatoni dinner
Merced Breakfast Lions Club’s annual Rigatoni Take-Out Dinner will be ready for pickup from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Italo-American Lodge, 1351 W. 18th St., Merced. Rigatoni, salad and a roll are $8. Proceeds benefit local projects and youth activities. Tickets are available from any Merced Breakfast Lions Club member or at the door.
