Rigatoni dinner

Merced Breakfast Lions Club’s annual Rigatoni Takeout Dinner will be ready for pickup from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Italo-American Lodge, 1351 W. 18th St. Rigatoni, salad and a roll are $8. Proceeds benefit local projects and youth activities. Tickets are available from any Merced Breakfast Lions Club member or at the door.

AARP events

Merced AARP Chapter 282 invites members and guests to its annual indoor/outdoor picnic at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Merced Senior Community Center, 755 W. 15th St. The menu will be grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, barbecue beans, green salad, cake and ice cream. Golf tourney

Habitat for Humanity’s annual golf tournament is noon Friday at Rancho Del Rey Golf Club, 5250 Green Sands Ave., Atwater. Sign-ups begin at 10:30 a.m. There will be a raffle, putting contest, long-drive contest and hole-in-one contest. Sliders to be served prior to start of golf with other light snacks offered. Line dance class

Merced College Community Services offers a Western Line Dance class from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Fridays from Sept. 30 through Nov. 4. The cost is $35. For more information, call 209-384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.

Victims walk

The eighth annual Riley Brothers Victims Remembrance Walk, in honor of family and friends who lost their lives in Merced in the Loughborough area, begins at noon Oct. 8 in the FoodMaxx parking lot, 1300 W. Olive Ave. Participants generally place flowers throughout the neighborhood, play music and talk about lost loved ones.

Indian tacos

Atwater’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 9946 plans to serve Indian tacos from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Veterans Hall, 1390 Broadway Ave., Atwater. The handmade fry bread topped with beef, beans, cheese, tomato, lettuce and sour cream is $8. Take out available. Tickets available at the Veterans Hall or by calling 209-658-6436. Proceeds fund the Auxiliary and veterans programs.

Fun runs

Every Thursday evening in September and October, the Merced Running Club has Fall Fun Runs of 1 mile, 2 miles and 3 miles. Registration is from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m., and runs start at 5:45 p.m. sharp from Rahilly Park, 3400 Parsons Ave. First choose your distance, then predict your time. Ribbons for first, second and third place go to those closest to their predicted times, not to the fastest runners. For more information, email davesimenson@hotmail.com.
