Habitat for Humanity fundraiser
Habitat for Humanity will have its Flapjack Fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 1734 W. Olive Ave. in Merced. Cost is $5 per person. Call (209) 726-0850 to purchase tickets and make arrangements for pickup.
Barbecue at Le Grand church
The 68th annual deep-pit barbecue prepared by the men of Le Grand Methodist Church will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 14 in the all-purpose room of Le Grand Elementary School, 13071 Le Grand Road in Le Grand. The meal includes deep-pit barbecued beef, beans, salad, roll, butter, dessert and drink. Cost is $12.50 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and younger. Livingston Lions having rib dinner
The Livingston Lions will have its annual takeout rib dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7 at the Livingston Veterans of Foreign Wars hall. Donation is $10. Call Linda to reserve tickets: (209) 394-7750.

Merced College trip to Columbia State Park
The Merced College Community Services office plans a bus trip to Columbia State Park in California’s Gold Country, where the town is run just as it was 150 years ago. The trip is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 7 and includes the musical “Mary Poppins.” Transportation, refreshments and play admission is $79 per person. McDaniel to hold mobile office hours
District 3 Supervisor Daron McDaniel has scheduled monthly mobile office hours at Atwater City Hall. The public is encouraged to use the time to voice opinions and talk with McDaniel regarding subjects of interest. District 3 Atwater mobile office hours are 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. every fourth Thursday at Atwater City Hall, 750 Bellevue Road. Volunteers sought as literacy tutors
Volunteer literacy tutors are sought to help adults at Merced County libraries. Call the Read and Succeed-Merced Adult Literacy Program at(209) 385-7391 to reserve your space at an informational orientation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 3 at the Merced County Library, 2100 O St., or from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 18 at the Los Banos Library, 1312 Seventh St. Participants must be 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Reservation required.
