Veterans Day Parade
The annual Merced Veterans Day Parade begins with a ceremony at noon on Friday in Bob Hart Square, the corner of Canal and Main streets. The parade is set to follow at 1 p.m. on Main Street. National Children’s Grief Awareness Day
Jessica’s House in Turlock invites the public to attend National Children’s Grief Awareness Day from 7 to 10 a.m. Thursday, 741 E. Main St., Turlock. The day is an opportunity to support grieving children. Jessica’s House helps create a healthier community by providing a safe place for children, teens, young adults and their families grieving the death of a loved one. Mature Driver Improvement Class
Merced College is offering a mature driving improvement class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Merced College Educational Center on the Merced College campus. The class also will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 1, at the Atwater Community Center, 760 Bellevue Road, Atwater. For more information or to register, call 209-381-6540.
Native Daughters of the Golden West
The Native Daughters of the Golden West, Veritas #75, of Merced, will be holding a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at 726 E. Olive Ave. They are asking all members to please help with this project. Help can be setting up the day before, working the sale or helping pick up donations and items from those who cannot bring them. All donations welcome. Fitness Lab Membership
Merced College Community Services will be offering Fitness Lab Membership starting Dec. 1 from 5:30-7:30 a.m., Mondays-Fridays through Dec. 23. The cost is $25 per participant. For more information, call 209-384-6224 or email communitysvc@mccd.edu.
Holiday Artisan Fair
The fifth annual Holiday Artisan Fair runs from 2 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 and from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Merced Multicultural Arts Center at 645 W. Main Street, Merced. Local artists will be selling their creations to holiday shoppers. This event is sponsored by the Merced County Arts Council.
AARP Monterey Aquarium Trip
The Merced AARP chapter invites anyone to sign up for a tour bus trip to Monterey Aquarium and 17 Mile Drive on Dec 6. The cost is $80. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday at the next AARP meeting. The bus leaves at 7:15 a.m. and returns at 6 p.m. that day. Annual poinsettia sale
The Atwater-Winton Lions Club is holding their 11th annual poinsettia sale until Dec. 7. The price this year is $12. Flowers will be delivered to your home on Dec. 9 or 10.
