Madtown Throwdown

Madera High announces the final day of the eighth annual Madtown Throwdown on Saturday. Competition will begin at 8 a.m. and the final matches will begin at 1 p.m. at Joe Flores Gym, Madera High School, 200 S. L St. Come out to see student designs and innovations as robots battle to win the Madtown Throwdown. The event is free and open to the public.

Odd Fellows breakfast

The Odd Fellows of LaFayette Historical Lodge 65 are serving breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the IOOF Hall. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham and cheese omelets, and French toast. Complimentary coffee and orange juice will be served. The cost is $6 for ages 12 and up, $3 for children ages 7 to 12, and free for children 6 and under. The hall is at 30018 Yosemite Boulevard (Highway 132), just east of County Route J59. Holiday bazaar and brunch

A holiday bazaar and brunch is set for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Le Grand United Methodist Church, 3801 Washington St., Le Grand. The brunch is $5. The bazaar features a bake shop, garden shop, crafts and stitchery shops. There will be a silent auction and an opportunity drawing. For more information, call 209-389-4651.

Republican women

Merced County Republican Women Federated will meet Nov. 21 at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St. Retired Lt. Col. Mary Josephina Fragnito-Lira will speak about her experiences in the military. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at noon. Bunco will be played after the luncheon for a fundraiser. Women’s bazaar

The United Methodist Women’s 86th annual bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway. Luncheon will be $10 and served at 11:30 a.m. Also at the bazaar will be homemade jams and jellies; candy; baked goods; cheese balls; arts and attic treasures; a Christmas room; boutique; Hmong crafts and egg rolls; a silent auction; and Mattie’s Tea Room. Crane Day tours

There will be two bus tours around the Merced National Wildlife Refuge for Crane Day at 8 and 10 a.m. Dec. 3. Each tour will last approximately 90 minutes and will be limited to 42 visitors. Reservations are recommended. The tours are free, and any unfilled spots will be available on Crane Day on a first-come-first-served basis. For reservations and more information, call 209-826-3508.
