‘Twas the Night Before the Night Before Christmas’
Mitchell Senior Elementary School students will be performing “Twas the Night Before the Night Before Christmas,” at 7 p.m. Friday in the school’s cafeteria, 1753 Fifth St., Atwater. The performance is free. The play is a comedy about a group of community members trying to put together a Christmas program last minute.
Holiday bake sale
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is holding its annual bake sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Christina’s Fine Clothing in the Bear Creek Galleria, 2852 G St., Merced. All varieties of desserts will be available, including some packaged for gift giving. The sale also features raffle items including airline tickets for any destination in the continental United States. All proceeds benefit animals in Merced County. Breakfast with Santa
The El Capitan Gaucho Diamond Booster’s Club is hosting a breakfast with Santa in support of the school’s baseball team. The breakfast will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturdayat the El Capitan High School cafeteria, 100 Farmland Ave., Merced. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee, orange juice. California Central Valley Journey for Justice
The public is invited to join the California Central Valley Journey for Justice in celebrating the 68th anniversary of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Music Room of the United Methodist Church of Merced, 899 Yosemite Parkway in Merced. “A Right to Water is A Right to Life” will feature a panel that will discuss the balance between water for agricultural use, recreational use, and access to safe drinking water. Merced SPCA Christmas tour
The Merced SPCA no-kill animal shelter is having its 24th annual Christmas Fantasy Tour of Homes from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 11. Tickets are for sale at the shelter, 1021 E. Childs Ave.; Maciel’s Jewelry on the Mall; Blooming Affair on Main Street; Wash and Wag, 2521 N. Santa Fe Drive; Expressions of Love, 1486 Broadway in Atwater; and Christina’s Boutique on Bear Creek and G Street. The tickets are $15. There will be gift baskets for sale.
Merced County Republican Women luncheon
Merced County Republican Women Federated will meet on Dec. 19 at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St., Merced. Christmas music will be enjoyed in lieu of a speaker. Those attending the luncheon are asked to bring unwrapped toys, nonperishable foods, clothing, etc., for donation to the Salvation Army. Cross Conditioning
