Teddy Bear Day

Teddy Bear Day at Applegate Zoo will be 2 to 4 p.m. March 15. Staff from the Merced Zoological Society and Zoo will teach people about bears. Admission to the zoo is $2 for ages 5 to 15, $3 for ages 16 to 61 and $1.50 for ages 62 and older. Children under 5 are free. The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Indian Gulch run

The 39th annual Indian Gulch run will be March 15 in the foothills of Hornitos. Proceeds benefit the Buhach Colony High cross-country team. Check-in and raceday registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. All races start at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast is included with registration, which ranges from $20 to $25. Enchilada dinner

The Hornitos Patron Club will have an enchilada dinner from 3:30 to 9 p.m. March 7 at Golden Stag Hall, 2884 Bear Valley Road in Hornitos. The event will include a performance by the Hacienda Valencia Spanish horse and the dance group Sole Del Valle. Dinner is $15 for adults and $7 for children 12 and younger. Used-book store

Livingston Library now has a used-book store inside, with hardback and paperback books and magazines for sale. The bookstore is run by the Friends of the Livingston Library, and proceeds go to new materials and special events at the library. Children age 5 and younger along with their caregivers are invited to attend preschool storytime every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call the Livingston Library at (209) 394-7330.

DAR meeting

The Merced River Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will meet 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The Hampshire, 3460 R St. If you are related to a patriot who lived during the time of the American Revolution and would like to know more about the group, call Karen Theofanides at (209) 384-0742.

MS program

A program titled “Mood and Cognition in Multiple Sclerosis: What You Can Do” is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive in Merced. The program explores why and how people with multiple sclerosis experience changes in mood and cognitive functioning, and provides the latest information on how these symptoms can be addressed.
