MS program
A program titled “Mood and Cognition in Multiple Sclerosis: What You Can Do” is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive, Merced. The program explores why and how people with multiple sclerosis experience changes in mood and cognitive functioning, and provides the latest information on how these symptoms can be addressed. DAR meeting
The Merced River Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will meet 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The Hampshire, 3460 R St. If you are related to a patriot living during the time of the American Revolution and would like to know more, call Karen Theofanides at (209) 384-0742.
Gospel concert
The next installment of the Julie-N-Friends gospel concert series will be at 6 p.m. March 29 at the Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave., Merced. The free event will feature acts including Sacramento’s Solid Ground, along with Bakersfield’s The Cornells and The Roberts. The host group is Bridge of Grace from Merced. Genealogical Society
The Merced County Genealogical Society will hold its next meeting at 1 p.m. March 21 in the Gracey Room of the Merced County Library, 2100 O St. The meeting is open to all, no membership is required. Pamela Atherstone, great-granddaughter of German-Russian immigrants, will do a presentation on the research that led to her novel “Like Footprints in the Wind.”
Church concert
The Nashville-based Southern gospel group the Blackwood Legacy Quartet will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. March 24 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1495 Underwood Ave., Atwater.
Support the Troops run
Merced STAR Chapter 212 will hold its 10th annual Veterans Support the Troops Run beginning at 9 a.m. April 11 at Merced Power Sports, 265 W. 15th St., Merced. At that location, monetary donations and items will be collected for troops serving abroad and at home. The group will then ride to San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella for a ceremony dedicated to fallen heroes and heroines. The ride will then continue to Veterans Park in Atwater for lunch. Proceeds will go toward the Wounded Warrior Project. Bike Blessing
The Sons of Thunder CMC will hold its 12th Annual Bike Blessing on April 18 at 650 E. Olive Ave., Merced. Sign-in will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., and the blessing will be at 10 a.m. The blessing will be followed by a barbecue at Henderson Park in Snelling.
