Christian singer, songwriter
Doug Hallock, a Christian songwriter, singer and musician, will perform a free concert at Winton First Baptist Church, 7264 Myrtle Ave., Winton, at 7 p.m. Monday. He tells of his struggle with heroin addiction, suicidal and homicidal tendencies, before finding relief through Christian recovery ministries. For more information, call 358-6975.

Big Bands tribute
A fully staged tribute to the Big Bands of the 1940s is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Tickets are $29 to $49. Details at http:// tickets.mercedtheatre.org.
‘Heart for Art’
The California Retired Teachers Association is sponsoring a “Heart for Art” event from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. The program will be focused on digital art using an iPad, presented by Paul Longo, Ph.D. In addition, Vicki Eisenhart, an expert quilter, will give a free presentation. Afterward, members and friends of CalRTA will have a lunch including corned beef sandwiches and Irish coffee at 510 Bistro, 510 W. Main St. Cost is $15. Native Daughters trip
The Native Daughters of the Golden West, Veritas Parlor No. 75, is hosting its semi-annual Black Oak Casino bus trip on Saturday. Net proceeds benefit our local scholarship fund. Only one pickup location for this trip: 8:15 a.m. at the Walmart parking lot on Olive Avenue in Merced. Cost is $25 per person. Old Timers Association
The Merced County Old Timers Association is looking for individuals to honor at the 73rd annual Old Timers Luncheon. The Old Timers committee was formed in 1942 to honor individuals who are 85 or older and have lived in Merced County for 50 years or longer. This year’s luncheon will be held on April 26 at the Italo-American Lodge in Merced. Honorees receive a free luncheon and are presented with certificates and proclamations from various political districts, including the Merced County Board of Supervisors. Deadline for applications is March 25. Income tax help
In partnership with the Internal Revenue Service, the United Way of Merced County will prepare tax returns for free for households that make less than $51,000. Help is available from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Saturdays through April 10 at the office on 658 W. Main St. in Merced. This free service is also available at the Salvation Army office in Los Banos and the Lifeline Community Center in Winton. Call United Way at (209) 383-4242 for more information.
