Hazardous Waste Disposal
The Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority hosts a Household Hazardous Waste event at the Highway 59 Landfill on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Highway 59 Landfill, 7040 N. Highway 59, Merced. Before bringing items out to the facility, please call Clean Harbors at 916-296-7478 to identify the amount and type of HHW that will be dropped off at the facility. Shakespeare Reading in Merced
Merced Shakes presents its third offering in the Staged Reading Cycle “Politics and Betrayal,” the epic Antony and Cleopatra. The reading will be presented at 7:30 p.m. July 20 at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St., Merced. A suggested ticket donation is $ 5. For more information, call 209-723-3265.
Second Annual LaFayette Car Show
The La Grange Odd Fellows invites the public to its second annual IOOF Lodge #65 Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 22 at the La Grange One Room School House. Merced Monthly Sunday Dance

Art Exhibit, Reception
The Merced College Art Gallery will present an exhibition of interactive sculptures from Aug. 15 to Sept. 7 at the Theater Building, 3600 M St., Merced. The public is invited to a reception for the artist from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23. For more information, call 209-384-6064.
Refs needed
The city of Livingston will begin their annual Youth Soccer Season and are looking for referees. Refs must be 15 or older, have knowledge of soccer’s rules and have played at least two years. Those interested can pick up an application at City Hall, 1416 C St., Livingston, or go to www.livingstoncity.com. The Recreation Department will provide training. Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Merced County Library are hosting a summer-long book sale. The “Fill a Bag for $3” runs daily at the library’s main branch, 2100 O St., Merced.
