Livingston community workshop

The city of Livingston is hosting a community workshop to update residents on the operation of its public water system, and federal and state drinking water requirements. The workshop will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at the City Council chamber, 1416 C St. in Livingston. For more information, call (209) 394-8041.

Merced Horsemen Association

The Merced Horsemen Association will be conducting a trail ride on Saturday. Participants should arrive by 9:30 a.m. and the ride will begin at 10 a.m. The trail ride will take about 21/2 hours. People are asked to gather at the parking lot across the street from Don Pedro High School, just off Highway 132, near Don Pedro Reservoir. There is a $5 insurance fee per participant. Old-time barn dance

A barn dance featuring live music by the Home Stilled String Band, with mandolins, fiddles and more, as well as dance caller Nick Cuccia, is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Hall, 939 W. Main St., Merced. Veterans will provide a no-host bar. Admission is free. Merced College and UC Merced students are encouraged to attend.

Old Timers Association

The Merced County Old Timers Association is looking for individuals to honor at the 73rd annual Old Timers Luncheon. The Old Timers committee was formed in 1942 to honor individuals who are 85 years of age or older who have lived in Merced County for 50 years or longer. This year’s luncheon will be held on Sunday, April 26, at the Italo-American Lodge in Merced. Honorees receive a free luncheon and are presented with certificates and proclamations from various political districts, including the Merced County Board of Supervisors. Deadline for applications is Wednesday. Women in Politics Luncheon

The 11th annual Celebrating Women in Politics Luncheon is scheduled for noon Thursdayat the Branding Iron, 640 W. 16th St. in Merced. Scheduled guest speaker is Kim Schaefer from Congressman Jim Costa’s office. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. The event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Merced County and Soroptimist International of Merced. No tickets are sold at the door. College plant sale

Merced College will hold its annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its greenhouses. There will be tomatoes, peppers, vegetables, herbs, perennials, succulents, fruit and shade trees, and much more. Signs will lead visitors to the area off M Street. Call (209) 631-2026.
