Day Reporting Center Open House

The Merced County Day Reporting Center hosts an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the DRC office, 3345 M St., Merced. The open house as an opportunity for community members to tour the facility, meet DRC staff and learn more about the center’s intensive reentry program elements. Castle Air Museum

Castle Air Museum will host local author and hiker Anthony Krizan of Oakhurst, who will be speaking about the discovery of the five lost Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk fighters lost just prior to America's entry in to World War II. He will be speaking at 1 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 5050 Santa Fe Drive, Atwater. Mature Driver Improvement Class

Merced College Continuing Education Program will host a Mature Driver Improvement Class for Older Adults (55 or older) at 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 27 at 760 Bellevue Road, Atwater. To pre-register or for more information call 209-381-6540.

Open Mic Night in Los Banos

The “Open Mik Nite” event will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 28 at the Ted Falasco Art Center at the corner of Fifth and K streets in Los Banos. Anyone wanting to perform at upcoming events can register at the door. The entry fee is $5. Bring your own snacks and beverages.

Free Health Screenings

Castle Family Health Centers will be having the 10th Annual Summer Family Health Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Castle Clinic on Base at 3605 Hospital Road, Atwater. Free health screenings will be provided for: Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Hearing, Breast Exams, Vision, Glaucoma and Dental for children. Well-child physicals will be available by appointment by calling 209-726-1235. Staff will provide Sport Physicals for a reduced price on July 24 to 28 and July 31 to Aug. 5. Master Gardeners Public Workshop

The Mariposa Master Gardeners will host a public workshop “Firescaping & What to Change in a Changing Forest” to benefit the residents of Mariposa County from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Mariposa Board of Chambers, 5100 Bullion St., Mariposa. Participants are asked to register at the website cemariposa.ucanr.edu/ or call 209-966-2417 for more information.
