Merced Youth Council
The City of Merced Youth Council will be hosting a summer clean up held on Saturday at McNamara Park located at 1040 Canal St. Registration beings at 8:30 a.m. and clean up goes from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information on how to volunteer, visit the website at cityofmerced.org.
M.U.H.S. Alum Lunch
The 1948 class of Merced Union High School invites any class member from the 1940s and early 50s to join them at their monthly luncheons. They are held at 11:30 a.m. on the first Wednesday Aug. 2 at the Merced Elks Lodge. For more information, call 209-812-4356, 209-722-7323 or 209-777-2886.
Catfish dinner
The 10th annual Odd Fellows Catfish Dinner and Raffle is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at the IOOF Hall, 30018 Yosemite Blvd. at La Grange. Cost is $12 for adults. Dinner and raffle tickets are available by calling 209-853-2128.
Hunter Education Classes
The local Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, Los Banos Chapter and Department of Fish and Wildlife will host two Hunter Education Classes free of charge at the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s San Luis National Wildlife Refuge. The two separate classes will be held on Aug. 12 and 13. Full attendance is mandatory both days in order to complete the requirements to obtain a hunter education certificate. A hunter education certificate is required in order to purchase a hunting license in California. These two classes may be the only opportunities offered locally before the upcoming dove season. Pre-register to obtain necessary class materials. Master Gardeners Public Workshop
The Mariposa Master Gardeners will host a public workshop “Firescaping & What to Change in a Changing Forest” to benefit the residents of Mariposa County from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Mariposa Board of Chambers, 5100 Bullion St., Mariposa. Participants are asked to register at the website cemariposa.ucanr.edu/ or call 209-966-2417 for more information.
