National Night Out in Merced
Merced’s National Night Out event is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Applegate Park, 1040 W. 25th St. The event is free to the public. The National Night Out Celebration includes free food, free Kiddieland rides, music, raffle prizes, free zoo entry and public safety displays and information. National Night out in Atwater
The Merced-area office of the California Highway Patrol will a National Night Out event from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Target parking lot, 1000 Commerce Ave., Atwater. The CHP is teaming with Target, Starbucks and others to put on the event, which includes a bike rodeo for kids and raffles.
Playhouse Merced Gala
Playhouse Merced will hold its annual Gala at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Bob Hart Square on Main Street in Merced. For information, or to purchase tickets, call the box office between noon and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at 209-725-8587.
Womens Bible Study

Merced adds days to public pool schedule
Get more swim time this summer as the City of Merced extends pools days at McNamara Pool, located at 1040 Canal St. The pool will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through Aug. 13. The Golden Valley High School Pool, 2121 E. Childs Ave., is open from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays until Aug. 13. Admission is $1 for youths under 18 and $2 for adults. Fridays swimming is free for the first 70 youngsters courtesy of the Merced Satellite Rotary.
