College plant sale

Merced College will hold its annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its greenhouses. There will be tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables, herbs, perennials, succulents, fruit and shade trees, and more. Signs will lead visitors to the area off M Street. Call (209) 631-2026.

Scholarship program

Central Valley Opportunity Center is holding its 2015 scholarship program. CVOC has been offering scholarships to academically deserving students in its tri-county service area – Madera, Merced and Stanislaus – for more than 36 years. Six scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded in each county on a competitive basis. Students must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 and must plan to attend a post-secondary educational institution in the fall. Financial need will be considered. Applications are available at all high schools in the three counties. Interested students must contact their high school counselor or Alicia Chavez at achavez@cvoc.org or (209) 357-0062, ext. 123. The scholarship application can be downloaded by visiting CVOC’s website at www.cvoc.org. Application deadline is April 3.

Club Mercedes dinner

Club Mercedes, 569 W. 9th St, Merced, will have a Good Friday dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 3. The price is $10 per person. The meal will include chile rellenos, beans, rice, tortillas and salsa. Dine in or get take-out. For ticket information, call (209) 383-9906 after 4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the youth baseball and scholarship programs.

‘Time to Fly’ Kite Festival

The Knights of Columbus will present the 4th annual “Time to Fly” Kite Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 at Livingston Middle School, 101 F St., Livingston. The event is free and the first 500 children get a free kite. The festival will kick off The Week of The Young Child and start with the landing of the Merced County Sheriff Department’s helicopter. Habitat for Humanity vendor sale

Habitat for Humanity of Merced County will host a parking lot vendor sale April 11 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2916 N. McKee Road in Merced. Rent two parking spaces for $10 and have your own yard sale. Applications are available online by visiting Habitat for Humanity’s website or by calling (209) 726-0850.

Mother’s Day craft fair

The American Legion Riders and Sons of the American Legion of Merced will host the second annual Crafts and Antiques Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 9. This fundraiser helps local veterans and preservation of the Veterans Memorial. The event is open to the public. For more information, contact Linda Perry at (209) 769-8499 or jackperry@alr83.org.
