Merced Republican Women
The Merced County Republican Women will meet April 20 at the Branding Iron. The speaker will be our Dorothy Bizzini, who recently returned from Romania. She and three other women shared personal and financial information to help improve people’s lives there. The meeting is at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at noon. Merced Bears Youth Football and Cheer
Merced Bears Youth Football and Cheer are looking for kids ages 7-14 to participate. There will be sign-ups April 11, April 25, May 9 and May 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Merced High School front parking lot. The football fee is $200 per participant. Cheer fee for ages 7-10 is $355 and for ages 11-14 $405. The organizations accepts all major credit cards, ATM and cash – no checks. All fees must be paid in full by May 23. Merced lifeguard training
Lifeguard Certification Training is planned during Merced’s spring break from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 7, 8 and 9 at the El Capitan High School Pool, 100 Farmland Ave. Participants will learn American Red Cross lifeguard training, standard first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Students must be 15 years or older and able to pass a test on swimming skills. The cost is $245 and space is limited. To register, call (209) 604-2733. A packet to sign up is available at the city’s Parks and Recreation Department inside City Hall, 678 W. 18th St.
Annual Green Tour
The sixth annual Green Tour, with a theme of “Learn How to Save Water, Money, Energy and Protect the Beauty of Our World,” will be held April 12, from 1 to 5 p.m. at 10181 Olive Ave., Livingston. The Valley Land Alliance annual dinner will be after the tour at the same location; cost is $20 per person. Merced River DAR
The Merced River chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its monthly meeting at the Merced County Library on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Do you descend from a Revolutionary patriot? Club Mercedes dinner
Club Mercedes, at 569 W. Ninth St. in Merced, will have a Good Friday dinner on Friday. Cost is $10 and the meal includes chile rellenos, beans, rice, tortillas and salsa. Serving time will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dine in or takeout meals are available. For ticket information, call (209) 383-9906 after 4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the youth baseball and scholarship programs.
