Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge in Los Banos
All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2017 Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge in Los Banos. The competition will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Vineyard Basin B Park, 640 Vineyards Drive in Los Banos. Winners at the local level are eligible to advance to District, Chapter and State Finals. The Soccer Challenge location is next to the fields being used for the Los Banos Parks and Recreation Soccer Clinic. All boys and girls 9 to 14-years-old are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions. All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to furnish written parental consent. Entry forms are available at the Los Banos Community Center and on the day of the event.
World Guitar Night
Buzzurro and Smith will perform the music of Italy, the Mediterranean, and America for one night only on Sept. 22, as part of their Heart of the Immigrant Tour. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Merced Multicultural Art Center, 645 W. Main St., Merced. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Merced Multicultural Art Center, the Merced College Bookstore, and at Gottschalk’s Music. General admission is $20, while tickets for students, seniors and military are $15. Coat Drive in Merced
United Way is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit those in need in the community. Donate new or gently used coats for children, ages 1 to 19, to United Way of Merced County at 658 W. Main St., Merced. They can be dropped off starting Oct. 1 through Feb. 15, 2018, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Indoor Yard Sale in Atwater
The Atwater Women’s Club will host an indoor yard sale from 8:30-11:30am on Oct. 7 at the Atwater Women’s Club at the corner of Grove and Third. For more information, call Judy at 209-358-5438.
Help Clean the Merced Library

Merced County Master Gardeners Program
The University of California Cooperative Extension Merced County Master Gardeners Program is taking applications for the 2017 Master Gardener Volunteer Training Course. Applications are due by Oct. 27 and classes will be held at the UCCE Merced office at 2145 Wardrobe Ave starting Jan. 10, 2018.
