Merced College Retired Women
The Merced College Retired Women will hold their monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at La Hacienda 2, 3355 G St., Merced. The no-host luncheon is an opportunity to keep in touch with our friends from Merced College.
Atwater High School’s Homecoming
Atwater High School’s Homecoming festivities will be held Friday. The Homecoming Parade starts at 3:30 p.m. by Foster Freeze in Atwater. The Varsity football game will start at 7 p.m.. The Falcons will take on Beyer High School of Modesto. The Homecoming court and king and queen will be announced at halftime of the varsity game. There will also be a fireworks show during halftime.
CASA Seeking volunteers
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is seeking volunteers to support children in foster care. CASA provides children who have been removed from their homes with a sense of security, as well as serving in the critical role of being a voice, eyes, and ears for the court. CASA will begin training soon. Informational meetings are scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 19. For more information, call 209-722-2272.
Animal Fun Day
The Applegate Park Zoo will host its Animal Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 23. The fun day includes a petting zoo, duck feeding, face painting, and goat feeding.
Bunco Bash Lunch
The Livingston/Delhi VFW Auxiliary will host its Bunco Bash on Oct. 7 at the Livingston Veterans Hall, 1605 Seventh St., Livingston. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. with Bunco beginning at noon. Tickets are $20 and include the lunch and Bunco play. Proceeds will go toward veterans programs. Even if you haven’t played bunco before, it is a very easy game to learn and it's is a great way to see old friends and meet new friends. For more information, call 209-852-9068 or 209-394-2468.
Victims walk
The ninth annual Riley Brothers Victims Remembrance Walk, in honor of family and friends who lost their lives in Merced in the Loughborough area, begins at noon Oct. 14 in the FoodMaxx parking lot, 1300 W. Olive Ave. Participants generally place flowers throughout the neighborhood, play music and talk about lost loved ones.
