Easter egg hunt
The 25th Annual Kiwanis Club of Greater Merced’s Easter Egg Hunt at Applegate Park will be held Saturday. All children through the age of 10 are invited. Toddlers, age 4 years old or younger, will hunt eggs at 10 a.m. on the park’s tennis court. Children ages 5 to 7 will hunt for eggs in Area 1 next to the tennis court at 10:15 a.m. and children ages 8 to 10 will hunt for eggs in Area 2, next to the skate park, also at 10:15 a.m. Candy-filled plastic eggs will be used for the event, with some of them containing receipts for special prizes. The Merced, Golden Valley and Livingston Key Club members assisted in preparations for the event by helping fill the 3,000 plastic Easter eggs with candy and prizes. Merced SPCA Easter Bunny event
Merced SPCA will hold its annual Easter Bunny event at the Merced Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Bring your children or animals to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Merced SPCA will also hold its annual election night at 7 p.m. April 6th at the Merced First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive.
‘The Centurion’
Landmark Tabernacle at 1927 Olive Ave., Atwater, is staging a performance and re-enactment of the life and crucifixion of Jesus Christ entitled “The Centurion” at 7 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. It features a cast of 107. The performances are free and open to the public.
Dance for birth
Merced College Community Services offers Dancing For Birth classes on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Merced College in Gym 4. The price is $25 for the next four-week session beginning March 23. To register, go to www.mercedcommunityservices.com or call (209) 384-6224.
Merced lifeguard training
Lifeguard Certification Training is planned during Merced’s spring break from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the El Capitan High School Pool, 100 Farmland Ave. Participants will learn American Red Cross lifeguard training, standard first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Students must be 15 years or older and able to pass a test on swimming skills. The cost is $245 and space is limited. To register, call (209) 604-2733. A packet to sign up is available at the city’s Parks and Recreation Department inside City Hall, 678 W. 18th St.
