DACA Info Event at Merced College
Merced College and Consulado de Mexico en Fresno will team up to host a workshop to inform students and employees affected by the Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Study Central on campus.
Birds of the Merced National Wildlife Refuge
The Merced Sierra Club presents “Birds of the Merced National Wildlife Refuge” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Merced United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Parkway. Rigatoni Take-Out Dinners
The Merced Breakfast Lions Club will host its annual rigatoni take-out dinner event from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Itlo-American Lodge, 1351 18th St., Merced. The cost is $8 for a meal of rigatoni, salad and roll. For more information, call 209-722-8949.
New Beginnings Fundraiser
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is hosting “Grillin’ 4-A-Cause,” a barbecue fundraiser dinner on Sept. 30, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Red Barn in Winton. The menu includes barbecue ribs, chicken, corn-on-the-cob and three sides. Entertainment includes fiddlers, auctions and raffles. Tickets are $50 each and can be obtained at Christina’s Fine Clothing in the Bear Creek Galleria, Valley Animal Hospital at 58 W. 16th St., Merced, Santa Fe Pet Hospital at 3113 N. Beachwood or online on Facebook. All proceeds will be used for medical expenses and the transportation of animals to no-kill rescues. For more information call 209-769-8953.
Mariposa Farm Bureau fundraiser
The Mariposa County Farm Bureau will be holding its annual fundraiser dinner Oct. 14 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds. Reserved tables of eight for $300 and individual tickets are available for $40. Call 209-742-5875 or email mcfarmbureau@sti.net for tickets.
Free YARTS days
Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) will provide free transit service to Yosemite National Park on all free National Park Service gate days for the next three years, officials said. The first free service days are Nov. 11 and 12. Free service events will be posted on the YARTS Facebook page at www.facebook.com/rideyarts and at www.yarts.com.
