Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser
Habitat for Humanity of Merced County is holding a fundraiser on Wednesday and Thursday at both Carl’s Jr locations in Merced and also in Atwater. The restaurant will donate 25 percent of their proceeds from both days to Habitat.
Rigatoni Take-Out Dinners
The Merced Breakfast Lions Club will host its annual rigatoni take-out dinner event from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Itlo-American Lodge, 1351 18th St., Merced. The cost is $8 for a meal of rigatoni, salad and roll. For more information, call 209-722-8949.
Jump for Jaelyn Benefit
Farmdale Elementary School will host a Jump-a-thon fundraiser, JUMP FOR JAELYN!, on at 8:45 a.m. Friday at Farmdale Elementary School, 100 Winder Ave., Merced. The event benefits 9-year-old Jaelyn Vega, a Farmdale student battling a brain tumor. If you would like to participate in the event or contribute, call 209-725-7170. New Beginnings Fundraiser
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is hosting “Grillin’ 4-A-Cause,” a barbecue fundraiser dinner on Saturday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Red Barn in Winton. The menu includes barbecue ribs, chicken, corn-on-the-cob and three sides. Entertainment includes fiddlers, auctions and raffles. Tickets are $50 each and can be obtained at Christina’s Fine Clothing in the Bear Creek Galleria, Valley Animal Hospital at 58 W. 16th St., Merced, Santa Fe Pet Hospital at 3113 N. Beachwood or online on Facebook. All proceeds will be used for medical expenses and the transportation of animals to no-kill rescues. For more information call 209-769-8953.
Book Sale in Merced
Friends of the Merced County Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Gracey room, downstairs at the main branch, 2100 O St., Merced. Proceeds benefit the library.
Victims walk
The ninth annual Riley Brothers Victims Remembrance Walk, in honor of family and friends who lost their lives in Merced in the Loughborough area, begins at noon Oct. 14 in the FoodMaxx parking lot, 1300 W. Olive Ave. Participants generally place flowers throughout the neighborhood, play music and talk about lost loved ones.
Italo-American Lodge Lunch
The Italo-American Lodge serves lunch on the first Tuesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $8. The menu includes beef or chicken, pasta salad and a roll. For more information, call 209-723-8541.
