Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser
Habitat for Humanity of Merced County is holding a fundraiser today at both Carl’s Jr locations in Merced and also in Atwater. The restaurant will donate 25 percent of their proceeds from both days to Habitat.
Hamburger Night
The next Livingston-Delhi VFW “Family Hamburger Night” will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Livingston Veterans Memorial Hall, 1605 Seventh St., Livingston. The sandwich prices range from $3.50 to $4.50; chili for $2 a cup and a soda or water for $1. Coffee is complimentary. All sandwiches come with a choice of potato salad or green salad. You do not have to be a member to attend this event.
The 2017 Merced Homeless Connect
The 2017 Merced Homeless Connect, a free one-day event for people who are currently experiencing homelessness, is set for 9:30 a.m. Friday at 1920 Canal St., Merced. A collaboration of public agencies, faith-based and nonprofit organizations, private businesses, and community members will be present to talk with individuals about services and resources. The event also offers 300 back packs filled with food, clothing, hygiene products and toiletries have been donated by Hope Mill, Inc. a dedicated nonprofit from Los Angeles working to spread hope to the homeless. These bags will be given out as a gift incentive for homeless individuals signing up for services.
Jump for Jaelyn Benefit
Farmdale Elementary School will host a Jump-a-thon fundraiser, JUMP FOR JAELYN!, on at 8:45 a.m. Friday at Farmdale Elementary School, 100 Winder Ave., Merced. The event benefits 9-year-old Jaelyn Vega, a Farmdale student battling a brain tumor. If you would like to participate in the event or contribute, call 209-725-7170. New Beginnings Fundraiser
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is hosting “Grillin’ 4-A-Cause,” a barbecue fundraiser dinner on Saturday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Red Barn in Winton. The menu includes barbecue ribs, chicken, corn-on-the-cob and three sides. Entertainment includes fiddlers, auctions and raffles. Tickets are $50 each and can be obtained at Christina’s Fine Clothing in the Bear Creek Galleria, Valley Animal Hospital at 58 W. 16th St., Merced, Santa Fe Pet Hospital at 3113 N. Beachwood or online on Facebook. All proceeds will be used for medical expenses and the transportation of animals to no-kill rescues. For more information call 209-769-8953.
Sock Hop
The Merced County Democratic Central Committee will be hosting a Sock Hop on Saturday at the Yosemite Building at the Merced Fairgrounds Tickets are $25 in advance. Call Kara at 209-769-5272 for tickets and more information.
