Merced College Career Fair
Merced College hosts a career fair today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the campus quad. Companies representing a wide range of fields will be on hand, including law enforcement, banking, retail, education, contractors and many others. Domestic Violence Awareness Month
The Valley Crisis Center will host Domestic Violence Awareness Month marches at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Courthouse Park, 21st and N streets, in Merced and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at Pacheco Park, Highway 152 and Seventh Street, in Los Banos. For more information, call 209-725-7900.
Blessing of the Animals
All creatures great and small are invited to a Blessing of the Animals at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced. The public is invited and all animals are welcome to attend free of charge. Animals must be leashed or in crates. There will be refreshments for people and for animals. Each animal will receive an individual blessing by Pastor Dorothy Lindstrom.
Merced Garden Club Meeting
Merced Garden Club will host the monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at Fish & Game Building at Lake Yosemite. Prospective members are welcome. For more info call 209-761-5710.
Tree Planting Workshop
UCCE Master Gardeners of Merced County will hold a Tree Planting Workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at the UC Cooperative Extension Classroom, 2145 Wardrobe Ave, Merced. The workshop will provide information on tree selection, planting demonstration, irrigation, fertilization, disorders and treatments. There is a $5 registration fee, payable at the door. Veterans Day Celebration
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9946 will host a Veterans Day Celebration to benefit those who served in the military, their families and the Atwater Community from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 11. For more information call Post 9946 at 209-358-7224.
