Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Awards

Charleston Elementary Pumpkin Patch
Charleston Elementary will host a public pumpkin patch this month at Toscano RV in Los Banos. Grand Opening is today from 4 to 7 p.m.. Regular days and hours will be Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event benefits Charleston Elementary to help supply the school with supplies, materials and technology. Career and College Night in Atwater
Atwater High School will host a Career & College Night to benefit students, parents, and the community from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at Atwater High School 2201 Fruitland Ave, Atwater. For more information, call 209-325-1292. Tours of the new Atwater High gym will be available during the event.
Book Sale in Merced
Friends of the Merced County Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Gracey room, downstairs at the main branch, 2100 O St., Merced. Proceeds benefit the library.
Merced County Republican Women
Merced County Republican Women Federated will meet on Oct. 16 at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St., Merced. Those attending are asked to bring an item for a fun white elephant sale that will be held during the meeting. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. Bunco will be played after the luncheon for a fund raiser. Reservations are required by Oct. 12 and can be made by calling 209-723-8584 or by email to mtzw@aol.com.
Pet Carriers Needed
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is in immediate need of small and medium carriers for the many animals they transport from Animal Services to no-kill rescues each month. Large and extra-large carriers are not needed at this time. Used carriers in usable condition, appropriate for animals in the 4 to 20 and 20 to 40 pound ranges, are acceptable as well as new carriers or funds for their purchase. Receipts can be provided for tax purposes. To donate a carrier, Merced residents call 209-769-8953 and Atwater residents call 209-658-8553.
