Blessing of the Animals
All creatures great and small are invited to a Blessing of the Animals at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced. The public is invited and all animals are welcome to attend free of charge. Animals must be leashed or in crates. There will be refreshments for people and for animals. Each animal will receive an individual blessing by Pastor Dorothy Lindstrom.
Indoor Yard Sale in Atwater
The Atwater Women’s Club will host an indoor yard sale from 8:30-11:30am on Saturday at the Atwater Women’s Club at the corner of Grove and Third. For more information, call Judy at 209-358-5438.
Christian Biker Rally
The 11th annual Christian biker rally is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Madera Courthouse Park on the corner of Yosemite and Gateway in downtown Madera. The event is free to the public. For more information call Ron Snipes 559-474-9209.
Odd Fellows breakfast
The Odd Fellows of LaFayette Historical Lodge 65 are hosting their monthly breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham and cheese omelets and pancakes. Complimentary coffee and orange juice will be served. The cost is $6 for people ages 12 and up, $3 for children ages 7-12, and free for children 6 and under. The IOOF Hall, vintage 1881 building on the National Historic Register, is the scene of many community events. Sons of Thunder CMC Dinner
The Sons of Thunder CMC hosts its 17th annual spaghetti dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Christian Life Center Gym, 650 E. Olive Ave., Merced. The cost is $7 per plate. Dine in or take out.
Victims walk
The ninth annual Riley Brothers Victims Remembrance Walk, in honor of family and friends who lost their lives in Merced in the Loughborough area, begins at noon Oct. 14 in the FoodMaxx parking lot, 1300 W. Olive Ave. Participants generally place flowers throughout the neighborhood, play music and talk about lost loved ones.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity of Merced County will hold its annual meeting and potluck at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 2916 N. McKee Road. Merced. Bring a dish to share and enjoy visiting with Habitat families, hear news about the ReStore, updates on Brush with Kindness projects and introduction of our board of directors. The Bear Creek Ukelule Society will preform. For more details, call 209-726-0850.
