Firefighter Pancake Fundraiser

The Merced City Firefighters Association will host its 28th annual pancake-breakfast fundraiser from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Fire Station No. 55, 3520 N. Parsons Ave., Merced. The cost is $7 for ages 6 and up. Everyone under 6 gets in free. Proceeds benefit youth sports in the area. For more information, call 209-385-6244.

Tune In & Tune Up

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and Valley Clean Air Now will host a Tune In & Tune Up car clean-up event at Merced Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday. At Tune In & Tune Up events, Valley drivers who have had their car for at least six months receive a free vehicle emissions test. If the vehicle doesn’t pass the test, the driver receives a voucher for up to $500 in emission-related repairs at a participating STAR-certified smog check station. Vehicles 1999 or older may also be eligible for up to $9,500 for a down payment on a newer, cleaner car.

Tree Planting Workshop

UCCE Master Gardeners of Merced County will hold a Tree Planting Workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the UC Cooperative Extension Classroom, 2145 Wardrobe Ave, Merced. The workshop will provide information on tree selection, planting demonstration, irrigation, fertilization, disorders and treatments. There is a $5 registration fee, payable at the door. Yard Sale

Veritas Parlor No. 75 of Merced Native Daughters of the Golden West will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 726 E. Olive Ave. Merced. Members can drop off items or have them picked up by calling Amber at 209-722-3679. The sale will benefit the Native Daughter Home in San Francisco.

Gospel Music Concert

Julie Eichelberger will host a Julie-N-Friends gospel music concert at 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave., Merced, featuring Evidence Quartet, The Rykert Trio, Bridge Of Grace and Sheri Stambaugh. This is a free admission concert. An offering will be received to cover expenses. Mature Driver Improvement Class

Merced College Continuing Education Program will host a Mature Driver Improvement Class for older adults (55 and older) at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the Atwater Community Center, 760 Bellevue Road, Atwater, to pre-register and for more information call 209-381-6540.
