Treasure Trove

American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting the Treasure Trove rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Building, 939 W. Main St. All proceeds are used to assist local veterans.

Habitat for Humanity vendor sale

Habitat for Humanity of Merced County will host a parking lot vendor sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2916 N. McKee Road. Rent two parking spaces for $10 and do your own yard sale. Applications are available online by visiting Habitat for Humanity’s website or by calling (209) 726-0850.

Merced Bears Youth Football, Cheer

Merced Bears Youth Football and Cheer are looking for kids ages 7-14 to participate in these activities. There will be sign-ups on April 11, April 25, May 9 and May 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Merced High School front parking lot. The football fee is $200 per participant. Cheer fee for ages 7-10 is $355; ages 11-14 is $405. The organizations accepts all major credit cards, ATM and cash – no checks. All fees must be paid in full by May 23. Call for scholarship applications

The Virginia Smith Trust is offering scholarships, administered by the Merced County Office of Education, to graduates of a high school in Merced who are attending or applying to attend a California college. Other qualifications apply. For more details or to download an application, go to www.mcoe.org/smith. The deadline for applications is Wednesday. Retired Teachers’ Association

The Merced/Mariposa California Retired Teachers’ Association will host a tour of the Hilmar Cheese Factory and Ceres Classic Wine Vinegar plant on May 4. A limited number of seats on the bus are available, and the reservation deadline is April 19 (no refunds after that). The cost is $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Participants will meet at Smart and Final at 9:30 a.m. The bus will leave at 9:45 a.m. Lunch at Hilmar Cheese is included.

Sober grad volunteers

The Merced and Golden Valley Sober Grad committee are looking for volunteers to help provide a fun and safe place for 2015 graduating seniors. Graduation for Merced High School and Golden Valley will be June 4. Organizers need adult volunteers following the graduations to be at the joint Sober Grad festivities at Golden Valley High School. The Sober Grad event is from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Volunteers are needed for two hours, three hours or all night from 9:45 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. At least 200 volunteers are sought. College for Kids

Merced College’s College for Kids will offer “Eggstronauts,” a class on space and rocket design, beginning June 15. The three-week class is meant to build teamwork while students deal with budgets and learn the rocket design necessary for safely transporting a raw egg.
