Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The DEA announces the 14th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. This initiative aims to provide a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for theft, abuse and trafficking of medications. This Saturdayfrom 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Merced County Sheriff’s Office will be providing a safe location to dispose of any unused, unwanted, and potentially dangerous expired prescription drugs. The drop off location will be in the parking lot of the Merced County Sheriff’s Office at 700 W. 22nd. St. in Merced.

Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser

Habitat for Humanity of Merced County is having a fundraiser at Chipotle at 3110 R St Suite A on Nov. 3 from 3 to 10 p.m. Tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity of Merced County. Free Hunter Education Classes

The Los Banos Sportsmen’s Association and California Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a Hunter Education Class free of charge on Nov. 7, 8 and 9at the Los Banos Sportsmen’s clubhouse located at 13989 Mercey Springs Road in Los Banos. Class hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Pre-register to obtain necessary class materials. Abuse Later in Life

Healthy House will host a training opportunity for victim service personnel to address abuse in later life from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St., Merced. For more information, call 209 724-0102 or email Nai@healthyhousemerced.org.

New Beginnings Fundraiser

New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is having a fundraiser at Merced’s Chipotle Restaurant Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Beginnings will receive a portion of all sales that day. Patrons may support New Beginnings by telling a cashier of your support before payment is made. All proceeds will benefit animals of Merced County.

Book Donation Drive

From now until Nov. 11, Postal Connections in Atwater and Merced are partnering with Operation Paperback for a month-long, community-wide book donation drive to gather gently used paperback books to send to active troops and veterans in need. Postal Connections in both Merced and Atwater will be accepting donations from local residents, businesses and community members to send to troops serving overseas and on U.S. soil. Books must be gently used paperbacks that are in good condition.
